The Problem: Covering CES 2027 Across Three Campuses

The Problem: Covering CES 2027 Across Three Campuses

In our previous post, A Planner’s Guide to Las Vegas’s Landmark Convention Venues, we compared the three venues that anchor the city’s convention scene. Here, we look at the operational reality of documenting CES across LVCC, Venetian, and C Space. And the problem…

CES no longer fits in one building.

CES 2027 runs January 6–9, 2027, with media and press days on January 4-5th. The event spans 12 official venues organized into three main campuses:

  • LVCC Campus: Las Vegas Convention Center, Westgate, and Fontainebleau
  • Venetian Campus: Venetian Expo
  • C Space Campus: ARIA, Vdara, The Cosmopolitan, and Park MGM

That footprint changes your content plan.

CES is not a single convention. It is a city-wide production. Your booth may be at LVCC. Your executive meetings may be at ARIA. Your partner activation may be at Venetian Expo. Your evening reception may be somewhere else entirely.

Recent CES figures show the scale: more than 148,000 attendees, approximately 4,500 exhibitors, and representation from 61% of Fortune 500 companies. The show is trade-only and restricted to industry professionals age 18 and older.

When you need event photography in Las Vegas for CES, one photographer parked in one hall cannot cover every important moment. Walking distances, security checkpoints, elevators, shuttles, rideshare pickups, and the Las Vegas Loop all consume time.

Your coverage strategy must match the geography.

Map Your Footprint Before You Map Your Shot List

Start with locations. Build your shot list second.

List every place where your brand appears:

  1. Campus and venue
  2. Booth or activation location
  3. Keynote or panel room
  4. Executive meeting space
  5. Partner event
  6. Media briefing
  7. Product demonstration
  8. Evening reception
  9. Transportation or arrival point

Then assign each moment a priority.

A product launch may require a photographer, videographer, and dedicated lighting plan. A partner meeting may require discreet candid coverage. A booth demonstration may need both horizontal images for a website and vertical video for social media.

Separate “must capture” moments from “valuable if available” moments. This prevents one delayed session from disrupting the entire day.

The official CES maps and locations guide provides the starting point. Your production plan turns that map into an executable schedule.

CES Map LVCC campusWhy a Multi-Crew Model Usually Wins at CES

A single photographer can produce excellent work. A single photographer cannot be in three campuses at the same time.

A multi-crew model usually gives you stronger coverage and fewer compromises. The most practical structure is one crew per campus or one crew per priority zone.

For example:

  • LVCC crew: booth activity, product demonstrations, staff coverage, and large-scale attendee engagement
  • Venetian crew: exhibitor meetings, startup activity, partner presentations, and scheduled interviews
  • C Space crew: executive walkthroughs, marketing conversations, panels, and media moments

You do not need the same number of people at every location. Scale the crew around the value of each activation.

A two-person crew may cover a major product launch. One experienced photographer may handle a smaller meeting suite. A videographer can remain near a keynote location while a photographer covers nearby networking moments.

The key is coordination.

Use one shared schedule. Use consistent file naming. Define who owns each campus. Establish a communication channel for schedule changes. Review priority moments every morning.

This approach prevents duplicated images at one booth while another important activation receives no coverage. We can build a crew structure around your actual CES footprint.

Build the Day Around Geography, Not Just the Agenda

Your calendar may show a 10:00 a.m. keynote followed by an 11:00 a.m. executive meeting. That does not mean the meeting is realistically reachable at 11:00.

Account for:

  • Walking time inside each campus
  • Venue entrances and security
  • Gear movement
  • Elevator and lobby congestion
  • Shuttle loading and unloading
  • Rideshare pickup zones
  • Las Vegas Loop routes
  • Setup and breakdown time
  • Buffer for schedule changes

CES provides transportation options that include the Tech Express between LVCC and Venetian Expo, the C Space Shuttle to ARIA, hotel shuttles, rideshare, the Las Vegas Monorail, and Vegas Loop service between LVCC and select hotel properties. Review the official CES transportation guide before assigning back-to-back coverage.

A practical rule is simple: schedule by geographic cluster.

Keep the photographer assigned to LVCC moments at LVCC whenever possible. Group Venetian coverage together. Protect the C Space schedule from unnecessary cross-town travel.

Transit time is not production time. Treat it as a real line item in the schedule.

Plan for Mixed Interior Lighting

January brings short daylight hours to Las Vegas. Most of your CES coverage takes place indoors under mixed artificial lighting.

You may move from:

  • Cool LED panels
  • Bright video walls
  • Saturated booth lighting
  • Dark meeting rooms
  • Stage spotlights
  • Exterior daylight near entrances
  • Hotel ballroom lighting
  • Product displays with shifting colors

Without a consistent approach, images from one campus can look dramatically different from images at another. Skin tones shift. Brand colors change. Backgrounds become distracting. Video clips become difficult to edit together.

Professional CES event photography requires more than fast cameras. It requires lighting judgment.

Your crew should know when to use available light, when to add subtle off-camera light, and when to protect the atmosphere of the space. The goal is not to overpower the booth. The goal is to show people, products, and brand environments clearly.

For video, capture clean audio whenever possible. Record establishing shots at each campus. Collect neutral b-roll between demonstrations. These details help your final recap feel intentional instead of stitched together.

Use Press Days as a Separate Coverage Window

Media Days begin before the main show floor opens.

This is a valuable opportunity. Press days often create access to product announcements, executive interviews, demonstrations, and media briefings before the full attendee crowds arrive. The official CES Media Days guide notes that the program is open exclusively to registered media.

Your press-day plan should identify:

  • Product announcements
  • Executive availability
  • Media-only demonstrations
  • Interview windows
  • Unveiled events
  • Press rooms
  • Brand representatives
  • Locations requiring special credentials

Press coverage moves quickly. Build short travel windows between announcements. Keep gear mobile. Prepare a shot list that prioritizes usable images over volume.

A strong press-day image can support a release, media pitch, social post, investor update, and sales presentation. Plan that coverage before January instead of reacting to the schedule on site.

Capture Executives and Partners With Empathy

CES is crowded. Executive time is limited. Private meetings are often more valuable than public booth traffic.

Your photographer must work discreetly. That means understanding when to step forward, when to wait, and when to capture the moment without interrupting it.

Plan for:

  • Executive arrivals
  • Partner introductions
  • Private demonstrations
  • Handshakes and conversations
  • Walkthroughs
  • Media interviews
  • Signing moments
  • Small-group discussions
  • Informal networking

Empathy matters. Your team is not simply recording activity. Your team is helping people feel comfortable in a demanding environment.

A quiet photographer often captures more authentic images than an intrusive one. These photographs show trust, collaboration, and momentum. They communicate the human value behind the technology.

Give Exhibitors and Sponsors Consistent Value

A multi-campus activation deserves multi-campus documentation.

Your images should show more than an empty booth. Capture the complete experience:

  • Branded environments
  • Product details
  • Live demonstrations
  • Staff explaining technology
  • Attendee reactions
  • Qualified conversations
  • Lines and audience energy
  • Sponsor signage
  • Partner interactions
  • Wide shots that show scale

Consistency matters. Use similar framing across campuses so your brand team can build a cohesive gallery. Capture both wide environmental images and close details. Create options for websites, press releases, LinkedIn, email, and internal communications.

CES is a trade event. Your audience includes buyers, investors, partners, media, and senior decision-makers. Every image should help them understand what your brand does and why it matters.

Add Video and 360° Coverage

Photography documents the moment. Video shows movement, sound, energy, and scale.

A CES video plan can include:

  • Keynote excerpts
  • Executive interviews
  • Product demonstrations
  • Customer reactions
  • Booth b-roll
  • Partner conversations
  • Campus establishing shots
  • Short-form social clips
  • A post-show sizzle reel

Tavits Photography also provides 360° photos and videos for immersive event recaps. Instead of taking 15 separate photos of a space, you can use one 360° photo to show the entire environment.

This next-generation format helps remote stakeholders understand what the CES experience actually feels like. It gives sales teams a stronger follow-up tool. It also creates an interactive experience that standard galleries cannot compare with.

CES Venetian map layoutTurn Four Days Into a Year of Assets

CES ends on January 9. Your content should not.

Organize your coverage around future uses:

  • Social media: vertical videos, candid interactions, product details
  • Recruiting: culture, innovation, team collaboration, employee moments
  • Investor communications: executive presence, market positioning, partnerships
  • Sales enablement: product demonstrations, customer engagement, proof of scale
  • Public relations: launch images, interview stills, press-ready assets
  • Post-show follow-up: personalized images for partners and prospects
  • Internal communications: team recognition and event recaps

Tag files by campus, venue, activation, person, product, and date. Create a short list of hero images. Separate vertical video from horizontal footage. Make the content easy for your team to find and use.

Professional event photography in Las Vegas becomes more valuable when it supports your marketing calendar long after the show.
